The Institutional Development Plan 2019-2023, states as purpose of the offices abroad the following:

 

To promote the internationalization of UNAM, through the development of liaison, cooperation and collaboration activities within and among other institutions.

 

To foster student and academic mobility (incoming and outgoing) in face-to-face, remote or mixed modalities, and the development of international academic programs as a strengthening mechanism of language proficiency and other professional skills.

 

To foster spanish teaching and certification, as well as mexican culture; and to support the mexican community residing within the office’s influence zone.
